What is Children’s Dentistry?

At Family Dental of Fairfax City, we offer children’s dentistry to all of the toddlers, kids and teens in your family. Our goal is to provide them with superior care in a calm, comfortable environment that helps to alleviate anxiety and fear. We offer preventative, restorative and cosmetic care to children as well as orthodontics. We welcome you and your family to come in for a consultation if you’re in need of a new dental provider.

Why does your child require routine Dental Care?

It is recommended that you bring your child in for routine care when they are about two years old. This allows us to start checking the health of their teeth and gums as well as monitor the development of their smile. We provide care to toddlers as young as two years old and can work with them all the way into adulthood. With the range of procedures and treatments we have available, your child will always be able to come to us for the care that they need.

What makes your child a candidate for Children’s Dentistry?

Your child is a candidate for children’s dentistry if they are two years old or older and in need of preventative or corrective care. We recommend that all children begin to see their dentist at two and continue coming in for appointments every six months. These bi-annual appointments will include a cleaning and exam as well as x-rays, when applicable. Our staff members are friendly and able to make your child’s visit with us comfortable and informative.

What can you expect during appointments involving Children’s Dentistry?

Preventative care appointments with our office include a cleaning performed by a licensed dental hygienist. An exam is then performed by Dr. Dary to check for cavities, other intraoral-related problems and tooth development. If treatment is needed, we can schedule your child to come back at their earliest convenience. We offer other preventative care options like sealants and fluoride treatments. We welcome you and your child into our office so that they can begin receiving the care that is needed.
